The Mössbauer Spectroscopy Laboratory

The Mössbauer Spectroscopy facility at the Nuclear Physics Laboratory (NPL - UCY) was purchased by national resources and recently installed. It works continuously in a different research areas such Chemistry and Biophysics - Thalassaemia, producing Diploma, MSc and PhD projects.

The Mössbauer spectroscopy equipment has been purchased from WissEL and uses transmission geometry. As a source we use a 50 mCi 57Co/Rh and the 14.41 keV γ-rays of the 57Fe nucleus detected using a Xenon (Xe)-filled proportional counter (LND 4546).
